{"id":10573,"date":"2012-03-08T10:37:20","date_gmt":"2012-03-08T15:37:20","guid":{"rendered":"http:\/\/www.ebookrumors.com\/?p=10573"},"modified":"2012-03-08T10:37:20","modified_gmt":"2012-03-08T15:37:20","slug":"apple-lands-5-publishers-in-hot-water-and-more","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/www.ebookrumors.com\/?p=10573","title":{"rendered":"Apple lands 5 publishers in hot water, and more."},"content":{"rendered":"<p><strong><a title=\"Apple leads gang of five into hot water...\" href=\"http:\/\/www.bbc.co.uk\/news\/technology-17300074\" target=\"_self\">BBC News<\/a><\/strong> updates a story that&#8217;s been running for over a year concerning a <strong>U.S. Department of Justice<\/strong> investigation in which<strong> five US publishers<\/strong> and <strong>Apple <\/strong>are now being threatened with legal action because of the way they &#8216;conspired to raise the price of eBooks.&#8217; \u00c2\u00a0Apple and the publishers pushed for the<strong> Agency Model<\/strong> of pricing in which publishers could set the price of their eBooks and stop distributors and resellers from discounting it.<\/p>\n<p>The end product was an artificially high price for digital versions of popular books.
