There’s a rumor that just won’t go away about Xerox<\/a><\/strong> making a leap into the eBook Marketplace, doing what they do best: printing and copying<\/strong>.<\/p>\n

Now this story gives the rumor a bit\u00c2\u00a0more\u00c2\u00a0weight. Read it here<\/a>. You know I’ve been talking about Print-on-demand Kiosks. Places where consumers can take a downloaded eBook to print. There have been a number of companies starting up, but none of them have the International Profile and Heft\u00c2\u00a0of Xerox.<\/p>\n

Here’s a quote from the article at FoxBusiness<\/strong>: “It [Xerox Nuvera (R: 29.21, 0, 0%) 200 EA Perfecting Production System<\/em>] excels at producing high-volume applications that require precise fine-line detail, high image quality and sharp halftones such as technical manuals, bills\/statements and books<\/span><\/strong>. ”<\/p>\n

The machine offers “perfect binding” too–the kind of binding we see on paperbacks these days. We’ll keep an eye on this story. The company that can create a dependable crossover platform might save the lives of quite a few bookshops, and it creates a “bricks and mortar” option for authors and publishers who sell directly to their readers.<\/p>\n
