The smart ones have been logged onto the changing times for years and are evolving to connect\u00c2\u00a0books, computers and the public. \u00c2\u00a0It&#8217;s all about staying relevant.<\/p>\n<p><strong>***<\/strong><\/p>\n<p><strong>In a similar social shift<\/strong> we&#8217;ve found a story at the <a title=\"High Tech Classrooms\" href=\"http:\/\/chronicle.augusta.com\/stories\/2009\/07\/19\/liv_541263.shtml\" target=\"_self\"><em>Augusta Chronicle<\/em> <\/a>where teachers are encouraging students to text the answers to questions. We&#8217;ve got teachers and profs making lectures available as podcasts, live streaming video\u00c2\u00a0with discussion boards as interface for posting questions. Students are encouraged to tweet, blog and chat online with classmates.\u00c2\u00a0Some\u00c2\u00a0are even releasing assignments and text references formatted for eBook readers and iPhone. Anything to engage the digital generation, <em>yah<\/em>?<\/p>\n<p><strong>***<\/strong><\/p>\n<p><strong>An update is available\u00c2\u00a0for<\/strong> <strong>Stanza<\/strong>, the popular eBook reading app for the iPhone\/iPod Touch&#8211;and recent Amazon.com purchase.\u00c2\u00a0Read what and where <a title=\"Stanza Update\" href=\"http:\/\/www.intomobile.com\/2009\/07\/18\/stanza-iphone-ebook-reader-gets-an-update.html\" target=\"_self\">here<\/a> at <strong>Intomobile.com<\/strong>. There&#8217;s an article about its re-opening\u00c2\u00a0<a title=\"Barnes and Noble eBook Store\" href=\"http:\/\/www.reuters.com\/article\/rbssConsumerGoodsAndRetailNews\/idUSN2013354620090720\" target=\"_self\">here<\/a> at <strong>Reuters<\/strong>. That should heat things up a bit for the other players like Amazon&#8217;s Kindle and Sony&#8217;s Reader.<\/p>\n<p><strong>***<\/strong><\/p>\n<p><strong>More on Amazon&#8217;s thought-control<\/strong> tactics digging into the private libraries of Kindle subscribers without so much as knocking. It was a copyright issue that Amazon had to deal with that they settled rather arbitrarily in a fashion befitting the secret police. An article at Daniweb <a title=\"Who Owns This Stuff?\" href=\"http:\/\/www.daniweb.com\/blogs\/entry4543.html\" target=\"_self\">here<\/a> digs deeper\u00c2\u00a0into the invasion of privacy and asks the simple question: &#8220;Who owns the content you purchase?&#8221; (Another good reason to get rid of DRM!)<\/p>\n<p><strong>***<\/strong><\/p>\n<p><strong>In the &#8220;She Ain&#8217;t No Lady&#8221; department<\/strong> this article &#8220;<a title=\"Wall Street Journal\" href=\"http:\/\/online.wsj.com\/article\/SB124809978837365265.html\" target=\"_self\">Gray Lady&#8217;s Dilemma<\/a>&#8220;\u00c2\u00a0by Brett Arends of the <em>Wall Street Journal<\/em> explores the financial\u00c2\u00a0dilemma facing newspapers in the digital age. How do they go electronic and still turn a profit? (Difficult proposition since they&#8217;re only interested in making the <em>same<\/em> profits.
