It&#8217;s important, in this argument, for all of us to remember that this is one corporate giant versus another. Their mandate has nothing to do with protecting individual rights and freedoms. They exist for profit&#8211;the more the better, and this argument is only about corporate giants maintaining access to the market, and product.<\/p>\n<p>Google Books is just doing what it&#8217;s supposed to do. And so is Amazon, bulldogging the book <a title=\"Read about the settlement here.\" href=\"http:\/\/news.cnet.com\/8301-30684_3-10321371-265.html\" target=\"_self\"><strong>settlement<\/strong><\/a> that will give Google Books\u00c2\u00a0access to the world&#8217;s book titles.<\/p>\n<p>And when they talk about the rights of the author, and the freedom of information, it&#8217;s just smoke and mirrors.
