California-based company <strong><a title=\"Spring Design\" href=\"http:\/\/www.springdesign.com\/resource\/jsp\/index.jsp;jsessionid=6C78C95213F53B33DCE916A94AE626D6.standalone\" target=\"_self\">Spring Design<\/a><\/strong> claims the eBook retailer copied unique features and functions from their <strong><a title=\"The Alex\" href=\"http:\/\/www.springdesign.com\/resource\/jsp\/\" target=\"_self\">Alex<\/a><\/strong> dual-screen eBook reader (check it out at the<strong> <\/strong><a title=\"Alex - Sweet machine\" href=\"http:\/\/www.springdesign.com\/resource\/jsp\/\" target=\"_self\"><strong>link<\/strong><\/a>&#8230; Sweet looking ride.)\u00c2\u00a0and included them in the <strong><a title=\"The Nook\" href=\"https:\/\/www.ebookrumors.com\/?p=3518\" target=\"_self\">Nook<\/a><\/strong>. The <strong><a title=\"The Nook versus the Alex\" href=\"http:\/\/www.telegraph.co.uk\/technology\/news\/6500540\/Barnes-and-Noble-sued-over-Nook-ebook-reader.html\" target=\"_self\">link<\/a><\/strong> to the full\u00c2\u00a0story\u00c2\u00a0at <strong><em><a title=\"Full Story here...\" href=\"http:\/\/www.telegraph.co.uk\/technology\/news\/6500540\/Barnes-and-Noble-sued-over-Nook-ebook-reader.html\" target=\"_self\">The Telegraph.co.uk<\/a><\/em><\/strong> was dropped off by our friend <strong><a title=\"Fantastic Photography at Jorgen's World\" href=\"http:\/\/jorgensworld.blogspot.com\/\" target=\"_self\">Jorgen<\/a><\/strong>.<\/p>\n<p>This &#8216;borrowing&#8217; occurred as a result of a collaboration between the two companies as they co-developed a &#8220;Kindle Killer&#8221; eBook reader. Spring Design alleges B&amp;N overlooked mentioning that they were working on their own eBook Reading device (<em>the Nook<\/em>), resulting in the &#8220;misappropriated trade secrets,&#8221; etc. and the violation of a non-disclosure agreement between the two parties.<\/p>\n<p>Barnes and Noble quoted its policy of not commenting on litigation.<\/p>\n<p>If nothing else, the lawsuit will get some much-deserved attention for the Alex, <em>yah<\/em>?<\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"<p>Barnes and Noble&#8217;s new eBook Reader &#8220;The Nook&#8221; is attracting headlines and now litigation.
