Read the story about the <strong>$259<\/strong> (US) eBook reader in the <strong><a title=\"Canadian Kindle\" href=\"http:\/\/www.nationalpost.com\/news\/canada\/story.html?id=2234198\" target=\"_self\">National Post<\/a><\/strong>.<\/p>\n<p>I think they missed an opportunity, coming this late, considering the large number of snooty literary types that inhabit the forests up here salivating for the chance to make the experience distasteful to the mainstream audience. But I&#8217;m pleased it&#8217;s here&#8230;months after Sony&#8217;s arrival, I have to point out.<\/p>\n<p>I will say that the <strong>KINDLE for PC<\/strong> is now available for download in Canada, too. Get it <strong><a title=\"Free Kindle for PC Download\" href=\"http:\/\/www.amazon.com\/gp\/feature.html?ie=UTF8&amp;docId=1000426311\" target=\"_self\">here<\/a><\/strong>. I &#8216;grumbled&#8217; about it not being available in Canada a few days <strong><a title=\"Me, grumbling about Kindle PC\" href=\"https:\/\/www.ebookrumors.com\/?p=3756\" target=\"_self\">back<\/a><\/strong>. But I&#8217;ll give Amazon it&#8217;s due. I downloaded it, having always been curious about the interface (but I was locked out) and it plays pretty well. It&#8217;s a little bright on the eyes, if you compared it to the actual Kindle device display or\u00c2\u00a0 Digital Editions, a competing eBook reader for computer monitor\u00c2\u00a0or laptop that uses open format EPUB. I think Digital Editions has a more user-friendly feel and look\u00c2\u00a0to its &#8216;paper&#8217; display. Download it <strong><a title=\"Free Digital Editions Download\" href=\"http:\/\/www.adobe.com\/products\/digitaleditions\/\" target=\"_self\">here<\/a><\/strong>.<\/p>\n<p>I compared a few eBooks in the Kindle proprietary AZW format versus the Mobipocket PRC format (PRC\u00c2\u00a0also plays on Kindle and the Kindle for PC App). I&#8217;ll say, there were few differences, so wonder again why there&#8217;s all the duplication.
