At the <strong><em><a title=\"Who needs Publishers?\" href=\"http:\/\/www.guardian.co.uk\/books\/2010\/aug\/12\/publishing-book-online-ray-connolly\" target=\"_self\">Guardian.co.uk<\/a><\/em><\/strong> author Ray Connolly writes an engaging update on the state of the publishing nation entitled: <strong>&#8220;Who needs publishers?&#8221;<\/strong><\/p>\n<p>Connolly&#8217;s premise could not be more true now that writers can publish their own works and make them available to a large and rather eager audience through various online and hand-held platforms.<\/p>\n<p>Add in the fact that we&#8217;re talking about\u00c2\u00a0a large disenfranchised population of writers (shut out of the old paradigm) now able to reach a massive\u00c2\u00a0audience that has been slowly starved of variety, accessibility and talent, and one can see that\u00c2\u00a0the traditional publishing cadre\u00c2\u00a0might have a difficult time staying inside the loop.<\/p>\n<p>Historically, <em>reading<\/em> has been an intimate communication between the writer and reader facilitated and later\u00c2\u00a0controlled by publishers.
