Amazon trying eBook Subscription Service

Gizmodo reports on Amazon’s new attempt to dominate the eBook marketplace with Kindle Unlimited. They’re offering “unlimited” eBook reads for a single $10 per month membership.

This is a shot across the bow for eBook subscription services Oyster and Scribd, and extends Amazon’s exclusionary reading environment because this service will only list titles by authors and publishers that have agreed to sell their eBooks through Amazon’s KDP select for Kindle and nowhere else.

Titles by authors and publishers that have published for Amazon Kindle but opted out of the KDP select program will not be available in Kindle Unlimited.
