Amazon and Apple to double dip with eBook resales.

GoodeReader reports that both Amazon and Apple have filed patents to sell used eBooks. (Already sounds greedy, doesn’t it?)

Instead of keeping the eBook cover price low and encouraging new purchases, they’re going to create a resale market. I suppose it works as long as they put a cap on the number of times an eBook can be resold.

Since eBooks do not wear out, each title could be resold forever without such a cap, which would represent the main threat to author royalties.
