German court says no to “used” digital book sales.

Publishers Weekly reports that the German court will not allow the sale of “used” digital books without the consent of author and publisher.

We’ll see how long this stands up with giants like Amazon and Apple prepping to profit from the sale of used eBooks in a “cake and eat it too’ scenario that neatly cuts the author and publisher out of their share.

Lower eBook prices would make such a “re-sale” market unprofitable.
