RegHardware says Amazon has increased its order for the 7-inch Kindle Fire tablet from 3.5-million units to 5-million. The devices are to be manufactured and shipped before the end of 2011.
The $199 tablet is touted as the first major threat to Apple’s iPad, though industry insiders say that it’s the Fire’s price and not its capabilities that is putting the heat on the market leader.
