Traditional publishers continue to lose market share to Indie authors
The Observer reports traditional publishers are continuing to lose market share to Indie authors. (And it’s their own damn fault.) If they’d just embrace the digital book market instead of constantly trying to manipulate it (by overpricing their eBooks, etc.), who knows, they might be able to compete with the Indies.

eBook price-fixer Simon & Schuster is comfortable gouging consumers
GoodeReader reports that Simon & Schuster (co-conspirator in the Apple eBook price-fixing scandal) believes that raising its eBook prices is effective. It’s effective if the publisher’s plan is to gouge consumers and slow the growth of the eBook Revolution by undermining competition in the marketplace. Effective also if they want to encourage eBook Piracy.
