Walmart joins forces with Kobo to enter eBook Market

Ars Technica reports on Walmart helping to reboot the eBook Revolution by inking a deal with popular International eBook Retailer Rakuten that will include the retail giant offering Kobo Aura-branded eReaders, eBooks and Audiobooks in its U.S. stores and online.

Walmart has been trying to expand its digital and online imprint to counter Amazon’s thrust into the bricks and mortar business world. With Apple also revamping its iBooks store and app, is it possible that Amazon’s market dominance and exclusive proprietary conduct was to blame for the lull in U.S. eBook sales?

We’ll see. Kobo eReaders and eBooks will be available on Walmart’s website later this year.
