The PC-World article is excellent. As I understand it, the Adobe format can be read on Sony, Kobo, B&N, BeBook etc. and is therefore the format that gives most choice in hardware. Is that right?

I already have a number of ebooks that can only be read on specific readers on specific platforms that are more or less dying out (Palm and Pocket-PC), so I know the importance of being able to change hardware later. Amazon, Apple and B&N are as far as I can see running a scam with regards to their books: they want you to marry to their hardware for life. Is that correct too?

Remember you will one day want to replace your current slow monochrome ereader with a newer and faster reader, probably in colour. You will want as much choice with regards to hardware as possible.
