Indie booksellers lose case against Amazon

Gigaom says a New York Federal judge has thrown out an almost year-old case brought by independent booksellers against Amazon, where they say the Kindle-maker conspired with publishers to create a monopoly whereby the Kindle eReader’s proprietary digital rights management (DRM) software forced consumers to purchase from Amazon exclusively.

BBC has a story about Yota’s new phone that boasts two screens. On one side the Android device offers the traditional full color screen, while on the other you’ll find an E Ink screen. The designers have incorporated the low-energy E Ink for static displays, but one wonders if you can read eBooks on it. There are a lot of people out there squinting to read eBooks on traditional (glaring) smartphones who might jump at this innovation.
