Sony Continues Punching, Amazon reels against the ropes!

Okay, Amazon, you better get this straight, if you can even make it back to your corner between rounds: Give your head a shake and come out fighting. Read the full report at PCWorld.

Sony is in this to win. Weeks after announcing two new eBook readers, the PRS-300 ($199) and PRS-600 ($299) Sony continues punching with the December release of the “Sony Daily Edition,” a 3G Wireless eBook Reader ($399) with a 7-inch screen that looks more-than-capable of going toe-to-toe with Amazon’s self-declared champion Kindle. More on the battle for eBook supremacy at Internetnews.com.

Without Kindle’s proprietary format, and free to purchase and read EPUB books anywhere, Sony’s machine (while pricey) is set to win the fight unless Kindle’s plan includes more than a lot of talk about being the best and biggest in the busy. They’re going to need some pretty fancy footwork too, yah?

Please. You have to be kidding. I did a lot of research several months back on what would be a good reader for my wife. After reading and reading and well, reading, I game to the conclusion that the Sony Touch PRS-600 was my best option (Kindle wasn’t available in Canada at the time). To summarize – the Sony ended up being a total piece of doo doo. It constantly hung, several times we couldn’t even get the unit to start up…and when it did the startup times were outrageous. She slowly stopped using it and went back to reading paper.

When the kindle was available in Canada – I decided to give her a chance to try that. The difference is Night and Day. Save yourself the time, money and aggravation…Get a kindle…you’ll NEVER look back.

Oh and for those who think I’m a Sony hater…not so I have a great deal of Sony products in my House and they are great! All I know is Sony, stay out of the ebook reader market…you have no idea what you’re doing.
