eBook reading rises sharply in U.S.

Broadcast Newsroom cites Simba Information’s “Trade E-Book Publishing 2012” report that says eBook use among US adults has risen from 17.2% to 24.5%. The post suggests 50 Shades of Gray is a possible cause, but let’s not forget the millions of other titles from established, new and Indie authors who have adopted the eBook Revolution.

Amazon continues its expansion into the eBook Revolution by opening an Amazon Kindle store in India. The Indian Kindle store will offer over a million titles and launches with the latest Amazon Kindle eBook Reader that will be available at Croma retail stores across the country for 6,999 INR.

Rakuten Kobo Touch leading in Japan.

The Japan Times says relative newcomer to the eBook Revolution, Rakuten, is giving Amazon.com a run for the money in the Japanese eBook market with the release of their Rakuten Kobo Touch.  Amazon has plans to bring Kindle to a market that is predicted will be hotly contested.

BeBook Pure – £69 ($108 US)

BeBook is offering a new E Ink Reader for the rapidly expanding UK eReading market. RegHardware says the BeBook Pure will retail for £69 ($108 US). That’s a nice £20 ($31 US) less than the £89 ($139) Kindle 4.

Will the Sony Reader PRS-T2 hit the market under $100?
